Newport Beach Engagement Session | Mary & Ron

Just another fun and hot weekend engagement session with Mary and Ron, who are set to get married on September 4th. For Mary and Ron’s engagement session, we headed out to Corona Del Mar Beach. It was a workout  just getting to a spot away from the beach crowd. The heat didn’t help much either, but we got some great shots. After sweating for 30 minutes, we then headed to “The Wedge” in Newport Beach. A popular surf spot that I used to ride back in the day. It was a lot cooler and the crowds were heading home. Mary and Ron were fun to work with and I can’t wait for their wedding. It’s going to be another fun day.

Long Beach Wedding | Hotel Maya & The Reef Restaurant | It’s all about the Vendors

This past Memorial weekend was another busy day to photograph a wedding. Maria (who is my sis-n-law) married her long time friend Bryan, on a nice and sunny Saturday in Long Beach. Since this was a family wedding, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to stay focused on the photography. It doesn’t help when you have the cousins giving you shots of tequila to celebrate the new bride & groom. So as always, I asked my LBC friend Charla Brummel to shoot the wedding with me. Knowing I was going to be stuck with family, I let Charla take the lead on some of the photo sessions. She is great to work with and we have a similar style and vision with our shots. We also help each on different creative looks and perspectives.

We got to shoot the at the Hotel Maya for the first time and had a lot of fun with many different locations within the hotel. The Ceremony site was nicely setup by Commerce Flowers and another friend, Eng Tang of Glow Concepts. The make up was done by my wife’s co-worker and the hair style done by Theresa Garcia. Of course the music was beautifully performed by my good friend Tini Grey. So far Tini has sang for 3 of my family weddings and one more coming up.

It is great to know and work with these special vendors. It is also great to be their friend.

Los Verdes Wedding – James & Emily

On July 11th, I had the pleasure of capturing James and Emily’s wedding at the Los Verdes Golf Course in Palos Verdes, CA. It’s also one of my favorite local golf courses to play. James, 6’4″ and Emily 5’4″ were a fun couple and their height difference made it even more fun to shoot. Check out some of their photos from the wedding day.

St. Regis Monarch Beach – Sunset Wedding

Okay… It’s been while since my last post and I finally have time to catch up. I had the pleasure to 2nd shoot with my friend Brian Hamilton of SuiteM Photography at the St. Regis Hotel Monarch Beach in Dana Point. It was the first time for me to shoot a wedding there and from seeing images from my other fellow photographer friends, I knew this was going to be fun. It was a very small intimate family wedding for Niko and Karl. I think there were more people in the wedding party than guests. But Niko and Karl spared no expense on making their wedding look very beautiful. The bride’s dress was very unique and I can’t say much about the $1000.00 shoes. The floral arrangement was colorful.

Parents Against Cancer – Luau

I few weeks back I had the pleasure to photograph a Luau benefit hosted by Parents Against Cancer, held at Long Beach Memorial Center. It was a nice event filled with raffle prizes, Hawaiian food and Poly entertainment.
